THE FASHION IN GAMING AWARDS

Welcome to the Fashion in Gaming Awards!

We're excited to introduce the first-ever awards show celebrating the vibrant intersection of style and gaming. This event honors the art of character design and avatar customization, recognizing the passion and creativity that bring gaming experiences to life. Join us as we celebrate innovation and excellence in digital fashion and gaming!

Once applications open on JUNE 12TH, you will be able to nominate any game or designer that aligns with one of five categories:

  • Best Character Design

  • Outstanding Costume Design

  • Best In-Game Customization

  • Best Brand Collaboration

  • Digital Fashion Innovator/Designer of the Year.

 

We invite you to participate in our nomination process. Nominations are free, and you can nominate yourself or others in multiple categories. Please kindly inform nominees beforehand. To nominate, our forms will be available once nominations open. The forms will require the game or designer's name, company or publisher (if applicable), and a contact email address for individual designers.

How are nominees chosen?

Fashion in Gaming Awards nominees are chosen by the public.
A specialized jury will collaborate on deciding the five final nominations, while taking into consideration the amount of times an entry has been submitted, the category fit and fashion forwardness.  

The five games or designers which appear most on audience nominations will be put forth as official category nominees. In the event of a tie, more final nominees may be added.

Final winners are determined by a distinguished voting jury composed of renowned fashion and gaming professionals. 

 

At the Fashion in Gaming Awards, we prioritize transparency and fairness in our selection process. To maintain the integrity of our awards, the founders of Game Awards, Tracy Greenan and Fija Dahlia, do not participate in the voting process for nominees or winners. Similarly, our Fashion in Gaming Awards Advisory Board and Game-Changing Style are not involved in the awards process. This ensures that all decisions are made independently by a diverse jury of fashion and gaming professionals, ensuring that winners are chosen based solely on merit.

Rules:

  1. Eligibility Period: To be eligible, the game must have been released between January 2023 and December 2025. This timeframe allows us to focus on the most recent and innovative contributions to gaming fashion.

  2. Impact on Fashion: The game should have a notable influence on fashion within the gaming world. 

  3. Inclusive Content: We welcome all games, but please ensure your submission does not include violent or hateful content. Our goal is to promote positivity and inclusivity in the gaming community. 

  4. Adherence to Guidelines: All submissions will be carefully reviewed. However, any entries that do not align with these guidelines will be respectfully declined.

  5. Designer Integrity: We value respect and inclusivity in all aspects of our contest. Therefore, designers with a history of hate speech throughout their online careers will not be considered for nomination. We believe in promoting a positive and respectful environment for all participants.

GAME CATEGORIES:

Best Character Design:

Character Designs throughout game nomination must be unique, fashion-forward and considerate of how style can contribute to storytelling. 

 

Outstanding Costume Design:

Game nomination must demonstrate an artistry of designing outfits enhancing gameplay and immersion. 

 

Best In-Game Customization: 

This category will highlight games that offer players extensive options for customizing their characters' appearances, allowing for personal expression through fashion. High amount of face, race and body type customization are a must for this category’s nominations. Consider games which have layering mechanics, highly stylish in-game assets and/or rewards/drops. 

 

Best Fashion Collaboration: 

This category celebrates the most innovative partnerships between fashion brands and gaming, recognizing collaborations that seamlessly integrate style into immersive gaming experiences. Eligible nominations must fall within the dates of January 2023 to December 2025 and focus exclusively on in-game collaborations. While we admire real-world partnerships, this award spotlights those who have elevated digital fashion by creating unique, interactive in-game experiences that redefine self-expression and creativity within virtual worlds.

 

Digital Fashion Innovator of the Year:

This category celebrates trailblazers who redefine the role of fashion in the digital realm. Nominees must demonstrate groundbreaking creativity by seamlessly integrating digital fashion into their narratives, gameplay mechanics, or interactive experiences. From immersive virtual runways to innovative indie game designs, this award recognizes those who elevate fashion beyond traditional character customization, showcasing its potential to transform how players engage with style in gaming.

DESIGNER CATEGORIES:

Best Character Designer: 

A single designer who has demonstrated unique vision and skill throughout their career in combining fashionable looks with unique characters and stories. 

 

Outstanding Costume Design:

Designers who have utilized clothing in historical contexts throughout their designs in a way that adds and pushes the boundaries of what fashion can mean within a gaming context. 

 

Best Fashion Collaboration: 

Highlighting a collaboration between a single designer and game, whether fashion designer or game designer. 

 

Digital Fashion Designer of the Year: 

Whether it's within a game or simply existing in the digital realm, it is always important to highlight the innovators of the digital fashion world. This category will highlight a single digital fashion designer who has shown levels of imagination and design that are unmatched throughout the gaming spectrum.

FAQs:

What’s the difference between Character Design and Costume Design?

Character design focuses on the complete creation of a character, including their backstory, world-building considerations, and physical appearance from head to toe. Costume design, on the other hand, is solely centered on the clothing or outfit the character is wearing and does not include their physical features.

Can I nominate a game or designer more than once?

To ensure fairness and diversity in nominations, we kindly ask that you limit submissions for a specific game or designer to a maximum of three entries. If you feel strongly about nominating them multiple times, you are welcome to do so within this limit. However, please note that exceeding this rule will result in your nominations being dismissed. 

 

Can I nominate more than one game or designer?

Absolutely! We encourage you to submit nominations for multiple games or designers to help us create a varied and exciting list for our awards ceremony. Please remember that each submission must focus on one game or designer at a time. Submissions listing multiple names or titles in a single entry will not be considered.
